Service Description

This 5-day intensive is the ultimate training for the do-it-yourselfer. Each day offers a new topic in backcountry competency to build a portfolio of knowledge. By the end of this course, each rider will be able to confidently route-plan and lead a small group of adventurers on any motorcycle excursion. The curriculum is designed to build foundational skills necessary for backcountry travelers to safely traverse varied terrain and challenging environments. There will be a balance of technical and interpersonal skills taught that will instill a sense of self confidence and readiness. This course is perfect for the rider that wants to explore Backcountry Discovery Routes with their friends. Studies in risk management show that the most dangerous expeditions are ones without clear or competent leadership, often collaborative or “friends trips.” Let us help you not become a statistic and rev the stoke meter on your next adventure! Day 1: ADV Bike Basics Getting to know each other and course overview Riding skills course Maintenance and trailside repair Day ride Review and Wrap up BBQ at basecamp Day 2: Route planning & Team leadership Leadership styles and when to use them Intermediate skills course Route planning 101 Packing an ADV Bike Day ride with loaded bikes Topics in risk management Review and Wrap up Group dinner at Roadhouse Day 3: Navigation skills & Expedition prep Overview of GPS, map and compass, basic orienteering Orienteering fun course for Teton Moto Rally swag Advanced skills course with loaded bikes Day ride and Moto Camping 101 Expedition team break out and route planning Dinner on your own Day 4/5 : Team expedition Participant led expedition Guidance and feedback Overnight camping Camp set up and meal preparation Return to basecamp the middle of the following day Cookout and celebration Participants can rent premium adventure motorcycles and riding gear from our partners. Personal camping gear is recommended, but rentals can be arranged. Be prepared for all mountain weather conditions, we will plan around inclement precipitation but not cancel due to adversity.
